I would explore why your reaction is “not all Sikhs are like this.“ I never said all Sikhs were like this, nor did I say I was married. I’m fast, I never once said “Sikhs” specifically were like this - I discussed my Punjabi and Indian culture. Not my religion. Perhaps you didn’t read the article carefully or you were ready to react to the article and didn’t hear the spirit of my message. The problem of Anti Blackness in desi culture is unquestionable. I don’t know how I could have written an entire book on it if the evidence didn’t support it. But to speak to your point: no you cannot generalize. Not all white people are racist but enough are that it’s a problem and needs to be addressed. Same goes for our community.
